How do I know if I will like living at Lavenders?
We can offer you a trial visit or stay so that you have the opportunity to sample all that is on offer here. We know this can be a tricky time for everyone and our team is very experienced at sensitively handling the transition period when a resident first comes to live here. And of course, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have about life at Lavenders.

What is the food like – and when is it served?
We have an excellent kitchen and several dining areas. Everything is cooked from scratch using locally sourced fresh ingredients wherever possible. A choice of seasonal menu is always offered, and all dietary requirements are catered for, including vegetarian, gluten free, lactose free and diabetic.

Breakfast is served from 7am and is brought to residents’ rooms on a tray so that they can enjoy it at their leisure. If a resident prefers to take all meals in their own room rather than eat in one of our dining rooms, that is, of course, perfectly fine.

The main meal of the day is Lunch (served at 12.45pm) and Supper, consisting of a selection of lighter dishes, is served at 5.45pm. We also serve afternoon tea and evening tea and coffee with snacks and our home-baked goods are always popular.

Can I bring my own furniture?
You are very welcome to bring small items of furniture but for health and safety reasons we need to prevent rooms from becoming too cluttered. Please note that all items of furniture have to be fire retardant. Contact us for more information about this.

Will I be registered with a GP?
If you are already registered locally this will remain the same. If you are from outside the area we can register you with a GP of your choice, or you may leave that with the staff involved with your care. The district nursing team also visit and local GPs provide a regular weekly surgery within the home to ensure, where possible, continuity of care.
